TCM Acupressure / Acupuncture
Acupuncture means that needles are inserted into a person's skin in order to activate the energy channels, the so-called Meridians. Instead of activating or harmonizing the Meridians with needles, you can also press them. And so Acupressure means pressing one or more fingers into an Acupuncture point. Acupressure is part of the so-called Tui Na Massage, a Chinese Massage technique.
Acupressure and acupuncture are healing methods to activate energy channels in order to allow prana or chi, the life energies, to flow again or to release blockages in the body.
The goals of these two healing methods can be summarized as follows:
- pain relief and reduction of other symptoms
- functional improvement or improvement of functional movement
- Improving blood and nutrient supply to the affected organs
- Improvement of oxygen and nutrient supply at energy level
- Improvement of disturbed nerve functions (central and autonomic nervous system)
- Optimization of immune function and the body's response to stress
- Improvement of the peripheral nervous system (the insertion of the needle triggers a small prick stimulus that is transmitted via the peripheral nervous system to the spinal cord and brain), thereby releasing various hormones and neurotransmitters (e.g. endorphins)
